Passion Week

DAY SEVEN

Day 7 of Passion Week is another quiet day. It's a different kind of quiet than Day 4. Yesterday we experienced the noise and chaos of a brutal execution. But today, Jesus is lying in a tomb. Now, his disciples were observing the Sabbath, not being permitted to tend to the body until after the Sabbath expired. Imagine what they were thinking about today. Were they afraid? Or were they clinging to the word of Jesus that he will rise again? I'm so glad we know how the story ends. We know, tomorrow, we will see a victory!
Choose one or more of the Gospels below to read through the seventh day of Passion week. Highlight verses that stand out to you. What can you learn about Jesus through this story? What can you learn about people? What can you apply to your life based on what you read?

Prayer focus

We offer a 10 week small group experience called Rooted here at Hill Church. During week 3, the focus is all on prayer. And in that week, we are introduced to a simple tool to help guide our prayer time. Let's use this as a guide for our prayer time today.

P.R.A.Y.

  • P - Praise God for who He is and all He has done. I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High (Psalm 9:1-2)
  • R - Repent. What do you need to turn away from? If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9)
  • A - Ask. What's on your heart? What are your needs? Ask and it will be given to you...for everyone who asks receives...Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7:7-11)
  • Y - Yield. Spend time in silence with God. Listen intently for His voice.
