Youth   Ministry  Pillars

Belonging like Family

While not all families are welcoming and healthy, we sure want our students to feel like they are part of a loving, healthy family in Anchored Youth.

SHARED EXPERIENCES
Families know a lot about each other and build lifelong bonds through shared experiences. These include supporting each other, learning together, having fun together, traveling together, laughing together, crying together, and serving God together. One of our goals in youth group is to grow special bonds through all these experiences.
ALL ARE WELCOME
At Anchored Youth, all 6th – 12th graders are welcome. We come together as brothers and sisters in Christ while understanding that every student has different strengths, weaknesses, and backgrounds. We believe that our differences enable us to learn, serve God, and serve others in varied ways.

Making Disciples of Jesus

To say you are a “disciple of Jesus” means that you are a student of His, that you have completely adopted His values and lifestyle as your own.

ENCOURAGE GENUINE CONVERSION
We believe that simply knowing about Jesus is not enough, but that we are called to respond to the grace offered through the saving life, death, and resurrection of Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. It is not from yourself or anything you’ve done, but the gift of God.”). We encourage all students to accept the life-changing gift of salvation, and we help students see what being a follower of Jesus looks like in their everyday life.
STUDY AND APPLY THE BIBLE
We chiefly learn how to be a student of Jesus by carefully studying the Bible. This is carried out through group devotions, video devotions, and encouraging and fostering individual devotion and Bible studies for every student.
PRAYER
We take time to talk to God through prayer every time we meet. We understand that we have a God who cares for us and loves us deeply and who wants us to cast our cares and our burdens on him as well as give him thanks and praise for all he does and will continue to do in our lives.

Preparing for the Real World

From 6th grade to 12th grade our students are constantly adjusting to all the many changes life throws at them. While we take pride in being there for them during these times, we know that we will not always be able to meet with them as they graduate high school and move on into college or the workforce. We want to develop their faith to be a strong constant ANCHOR that holds them close to God as they move on into adulthood. Our hope is that the lessons learned and habits formed during their time at Anchored Youth will be a launch pad for a fulfilling successful life of serving God and growing closer to Him.

MENTOR CONVERSATIONS
Through mentorships and interviews of adult Christians mature in their faith from a variety of different occupations, we teach that their mission field is with them wherever life takes them.
DEFENDING THE FAITH
We study various books, watch videos, and converse about various worldviews and how Christianity is distinct. We explore the various rational foundations for Christianity. We welcome all questions!
