Passion Week

RESURRECTION SUNDAY

"Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." Everything we believe as Christians hinges on this moment, the resurrection of Jesus! Paul sums it up beautifully in 1 Corinthians 15. "Now brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born."

And because of this, Paul goes on to say, "Death has been swallowed up in victory. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

This is the greatest news ever! We can stand firm on this truth. We can have confidence in our hope. We need to share this with as many people as we can!

Prayer focus

Let's be people whose words and actions demonstrate our belief that Jesus is alive! What would that look like for you today?
  • In your prayer time, pray about the things that stood out to you as you read through this story. What's God saying to you today?
  • Ask God to reveal things in your life that are preventing you from living out your faith.
  • Ask God to show you opportunities where you can serve others.
  • Ask God to give you courage to share your faith with others.
